All those eyes.
All those eyes staring…
Can you imagine what it felt like for Meghan Markle as she made her way out of the car, up the steps, train swishing behind her, cheers echoing in her ears. And how it felt as she made her way down that long, long aisle. How on earth did she keep so beautifully calm and composed?
While I cannot claim any insider knowledge on her preparation, what I know is that both as an actor, and as a yogi Ms Markle knows the power of “camera out” as a strategy.
What it means, quite simply is that the more nervous you feel the more you focus on the sensory facts around you. “I can feel the air on my face, I can feel the clothes on my skin, I can smell the roses around me”. Presence is about being present to what’s out there around you “camera out” , rather than the nervous narrative your brain likes to run under pressure “camera in”.
So, in your high pressure moments do the same. Go Camera Out.
